The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) recently honored Marine Sgt Christopher Hrbek by making him an honorary member of the department. In a ceremony held on March 2nd at FDNY Headquarters, FDNY Fire Commisioner Cassano presented the posthumous award to Christopher's family. For more information, click on the link below.

The Bergenfield Fire Training Center will host a one day seminar on March 20th covering Engine and Truck company Operations. The entire Westwood Volunteer Fire Department, on behalf of the Hrbek and Hodges families, would like to thank everyone who participated in Sgt. Christopher Hrbek’s funeral homecoming. Your support was awe inspiring and will not be forgotten.

We would particularly like to thank all the Fire Fighters, Police Officers and members of our Armed Services who were here. Dedication, compassion, and service are hallmarks of your profession, but this weekend, you went above and beyond the call. For this, we thank you.

On January 5, 2010, during the Borough’s annual Re-Organization meeting, the Westwood Fire Department, lead by Chief Marc Fedorchak singled out one member for the Volunteer of the Year (2009) Award. This year the award went to James Voorhis, currently 2nd Lieutenant and former Chief of the Department.
